Great show. 5 minutes from my hometown. It seemed every where you turned there was some one you knew. Last time the Dead played there.

Subject: Best of 85
This has to be it. If there's a better one, I'd like to hear it. The first set is the stuff of dreams. I certainly never attended one like this, after which the second set is just gravy. Near best-ever versions of Jack Straw and Sugaree and excellent performances of Bird Song and Let It Grow. And a very hot second set to follow. The sound is FAR better than my old tape. I never did make a copy of the second set, so this will be a nice add.

Subject: Fantastic sounding and outstanding list!!!
Another great show from '85 and this one's a real smoker! Used to have a tape of this back in the day, great to hear it again. Outstanding AUD IMHO! I am so glad this website is here with all this great stuff!

Jackstraw and Sugaree help you realize that Jerry was the fastest guitar player alive, at least who could make each note sound like a note and play that fast.....

Let it Grow is is a tutorial in fiendish. If it wasn't the Dead, you'd be pretty scared. They might even have given themselves the willies.

Subject: One of my Fav's from Spring 85
Simply had a blast at this rather small arena this eve. Standing fdc 15 feet in front of Jer and Bob (slightly to the right of Bob to avoid being spit on ;-) Great energy thru both sets. Super duo of Jack Straw/Sugaree to kick things off. Love the half cocked intro into Est. out of Franklins. I don't normally point out drums/space but this one is a fun one to crank up (might be a good space to blast over the front porch for the kiddies this Halloween). Classic high pace 85 energy. If you like this time period this show is worth the dl. Oade's make great tapes but for this show I like this Nak source better.

Solid 4 on the show.
4.5 for another great aud.

Subject: sugaree
I too was at this show and the band was pretty rockin. the sugaree as mentioned was outstanding. First set has plenty of energy and the second set is well played and post space is very nice. 3 1/2 tito's for this gig.

Subject: Thank God for this Site
I've only seen about 20 live Dead shows (1981-1985), but I've always cherished them (well, a few clunkers, but that's the beauty if it).

I was at this show, and during the third solo of Sugaree my friend and I just looked at one another and we knew what we were thinking...the coolest moment of any show I've seen.

Listen to this one - it will curl your hair, even if you're bald now like me. The rest of the show is good as well and this is a great AUD recording.

I agree with ripcurl this is good stuff. I have no issues with '85 and this AUD is very nice. Jerrys vocals could be louder but I think I said that after every show. Nice work guys.

Subject: Sick AUD/Intense!
this has long been my favorite 85 show!

this source is better than the board! the board pitch is waaaaay too fast in the first set, and this is just as clean as it gets, with a SMOKING jack straw>sugaree>rooster....listen to the crowd get wild...

what a sick 1-2-3 opener. INTENSE!!!!....arguably one of the best sugaree's ever!

please get this...You are forewarned though. if you listen to this while driving, you will be compelled to FLOOR IT!!!!!!!
Enjoy this great AUD

Subject: Great Show, Great Aud Recording
Over the years us DeadHeads have learned how to deal with so-so Aud Recordings. Because the music under the layers of disruption, ie: talkers, poor recording equip. and lower gen copies, has usually been well worth the effort to bend the ear a bit to listen through the rough recordings and usually end up being rather satisfying!
This tape however will not fall under that catagory. THIS AUD RECORDING IS GREAT AND EXCITING!! You won't have to bend an ear or work hard to hear the great music from this show!!
Since the SBDs have been left only as a streaming format for us. I have been exploring these Gems of AUD tapes, every once in a while I will find one that just kicks-ass, this is one of those recordings!! Not only is the recording clear, spacious, right up front, the Drums are strong and have bounce, But the band is playing very well! I agree that this Sugaree is very powerful, Jerry's guitar is so clear and tight. Also check out Birdsong and Jack Straw. the 2nd set opens with Help>Slip>Franklins nice version, also check out the snappy Eyes, a bit speedy, but still very enjoyable and nice to hear quick licks from Jerry, clocks in at over 9 mins, can you recognize the little jam at the end, maybe Beatles, not sure.....haha... and finally a great China Doll!! Jerry's guitar jumps out of the speakers and seeps into you mind, and like a warm colorful flower, blooms. Vocals are very nice...
I was at this show, and saw the majority of my 350+ shows through 79-87... many people have opinions about the early eighties... Compared to the the 60's-70's, it's no contest, they dead played so differently in the 60's & 70's and were on that exploratory plane, it's almost apples to oranges to compare the different eras. I love 60's & 70's Dead, however because of my age, I was to young for shows in those days...What they were doing in the eighties was still far better than anything else out there on the Rock and Roll market. And quite Frankly, IMHO an excellent all around musical experience, The Best!! Of Course Jerry had some tough nights, but overall, no complaints from me, I'd do it all over again and even more if I had the chance! Thank you Jerry!!
If you're digging Auds, download this, it's really good!!

Subject: Hot show/ outstanding audience recording
Better than a SBD because the audience noise is just at the right level and the bass is deep. Sugaree voted best ever by Duprees Diamond News. The rest of the show cooks too.
